About American Weight Journal
Plain-English health writing for people who are tired of being yelled at by the internet.
American Weight Journal exists because of a gap we kept running into: health content online is either dense academic writing nobody finishes, or breathless clickbait selling a miracle. We wanted the thing in between, articles that respect the research and respect your time, written the way a well-read friend would actually explain it to you.
What we believe
- Boring advice works. Calories, protein, walking, sleep, patience. We'd rather make the boring stuff genuinely interesting than invent exciting stuff that doesn't work.
- No shame, no scare tactics. Weight is a health topic, not a character flaw. We write accordingly.
- Show the uncertainty. When an estimate can be 10% off, we say so. When research is mixed, we say that too. Confidence you can't back up is just marketing.
- Tools should be honest. Our Healthy Weight Planner shows its math, applies safety floors, and never pretends a formula knows you personally.
Who's behind it
American Weight Journal is published by HADLAMAN Inc., an independent digital publishing and web company. Our editorial team researches, writes, and fact-checks every article against reputable sources, peer-reviewed research and public-health institutions like the NIH and CDC, following the standards in our editorial policy.
What we are not
We are not doctors, and this site is not medical care. Everything here is general education. For decisions about your own health, especially if you have a medical condition, take medications, or have a history of disordered eating, the right move is always a real professional who can see your full picture.
Questions, corrections, or ideas? We read everything, say hello.
