Editorial Policy
How our content gets researched, written, checked, and corrected.
Sourcing standards
Health claims in our articles are checked against reputable sources: peer-reviewed research, and guidance from public-health institutions such as the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and major medical associations. Where the evidence is genuinely mixed or an estimate carries meaningful uncertainty, we say so in the article rather than rounding up to false confidence.
What we will and won't publish
- We publish general educational content about nutrition, movement, sleep, measurement, and the psychology of habits.
- We do not publish medical advice, diagnose conditions, or make claims about treatments, medications, or supplements curing or preventing disease.
- We do not publish crash-diet protocols, content promoting disordered eating, or "one weird trick" material, no matter how well it might perform.
Our tools
Interactive tools like the Healthy Weight Planner use published, citable equations, disclose their margin of error, and apply conservative safety floors. Tools run entirely in your browser; we do not collect or store what you enter.
Advertising
The Journal is supported by advertising. Ads are served by third-party networks and are always separate from editorial content, advertisers have no input into what we write, and we do not accept payment for favorable coverage.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix the article and note the update. Spotted an error? Tell us, genuinely, it helps.
